Preparations for the training of the Ukrainian military on F-16 fighter jets are slowing down due to the fact that some countries are afraid of provoking Russia. The main slowdown of this process is happening inside my country - in the USA, in our capital - the former Supreme Commander of the NATO forces in Europe, retired American general Philip Breedlove in an interview with \"Voice of America\".
\"Many countries are ready, our European allies are already ready, they have shared their plans and are ready to start.
But, I think that the main slowdown of this process is happening in Washington.
There is reluctance to act quickly because of fears that Putin might trigger certain actions.
As I\'ve said many times, the F-16 situation is just that.
In the issue of providing fighter jets to Ukraine, Russia\'s policy of intimidating the West has shown considerable effectiveness. Putin\'s ground forces fail him on the field. But Putin\'s war of intimidation, his war to contain the West, is wildly successful. And this is what Putin is working hard on.
That intimidation has led to deterrence, and has slowed down things like sending in F-16s,\" the general noted.
